Tech Appeal - thank you for donating!
A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our August Tech Appeal with Power to Connect, a Wandsworth based organisation tackling digital exclusion in our borough. We set ourselves an ambitious target of delivering 50 devices to refugees and asylum seekers this summer, and we’re delighted to say that we received 55 pieces of equipment over the course of August alone, including smartphones, laptops and tablets.
Each device makes a huge difference to a local refugee or asylum seeker who now calls Wandsworth home, including Aleks, Irina and Nic (pictured below). They had to leave everything behind when they fled Ukraine but a tablet recently donated via Power to Connect will now help with English classes and homework, and allow them to stay in touch with friends and loved ones too.

With the help of a number of volunteers, including Aleks and Nic, we were able to update and refurbish around 20 of these laptops earlier this month - soon to be used by local refugees and asylum seekers in Wandsworth!

We’re still on the lookout for phones, which help refugees stay connected and enables them to access essential services and support. Here’s what we need:
· Phones supplied with the charger, preferably not more than 5-6 years old;
· All information and data deleted and the phone returned to factory settings (we can do this but would need your password);
· Phones to be in reasonable condition (no cracked screens or broken cases please!);
· Batteries should hold a reasonable charge, e.g. minimum of approximately 6-8 hours.
If you’re able to donate, we’d love to hear from you! Please email us at wandsworthwelcomesrefugees@gmail.com.
