Landlords – we need you!
Updated: Dec 29, 2021
Do you have a property you can offer to Afghan refugees? Private sector landlords in Wandsworth have a vital role to play in offering a welcome to people who have had to flee the Taliban.
Many refugees are staff who supported UK operations and Armed Forces in Afghanistan. Wandsworth Council participates in the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) to provide a safe refuge for these families.
Houses must be self-contained properties in Wandsworth, between 2-4 bedrooms, fully-furnished and in good condition. The council pays a good affordable rent, secured for two years, and offers an incentive package of between £2,000-£3,500 depending on house size, plus six weeks’ rent in advance. See more details and who to contact at the Council here.
There are many volunteers in the borough willing to help welcome Afghan refugees arriving in the country, so when families arrive there will be a warm welcome and substantial assistance at many levels. We look forward to helping settle Afghan families and to their contribution in enriching the diversity of our Borough.
Please contact the Council if you are able to offer a property and help support their commitment to settle the families who helped the UK in Afghanistan.
